Shailey Tripp's Three Goals for Boys Will Be Boys

Shailey Tripp is one classy lady.

Say, what?

Shay is kind, honest, and humble.

Shailey Tripp –the  former prostitute – honest?

You betcha!

I can say without hesitiation, this is one amazing woman and a fine human being. I know this because we’ve been corresponding often. With a purpose. In January, Shailey Tripp asked if I could and would help edit her book.  She was honest and humble and right up front about the fact that she couldn't pay for my time or my work. I didn’t blink, I jumped in.

Of course I promised to keep anything I learned out of my blog and confidential until it was released in print format. I kept that promise. I’m not going to give details now, either. But I will say, this isn’t just a story, it's a set of documents and a list of names.  There are police documents. There are letters to and from Shailey’s attorney and other parties. There are names of wealthy, successful businessmen who work in Alaska. Men who hold positions of power in companies that employ over 1,000 people, people who might be surprised to see these names.

There are emails that establish a long relationship, part personal, part business. There is one email that is dated during Bristol and Sarah’s October, 2007 visit to New York City – that was when  Bristol was at an MTV taping and some of us think she looked big around the belly.  Interesting to me because we know where Sarah was at this specific time, and Todd’s doing his “thing” getting in touch with Shailey and he happens to mention things are “tense at home.”  You know, I always thought Bristol got added to that trip to New York because her parents had finally noticed that girl was pregnant and she and her mom needed to get away and make plans. Now, Shailey wasn’t tuned in to any  Babygate stuff, and she doesn’t comment or point out any connections like I just did here, but I’m going to tell you, that wasn’t the only time I read something that made me go hmmmm.

There will be time for informed discussions of such revelations after people have read the book.

On some sites people are letting Shailey  know that they prefer electronic books. Electronic is very popular.

I have to say, though, that traditional publishing makes the book available to everyone -nothing prevents a Kindle owner  from reading a print version – while the opposite is not true. Here’s a bigger point, however. Shailey Tripp wants us to buy and read her book for three reasons. One, of course, is to get her story out. Two, she needs the money. And three, equally as important according the Shay (it's in the introduction),  she hopes her own book falls into the hands of people who are leading the life of a prostitute and need to see there is a way out.

Think about that third one. If they are as desperate and broke as Shailey was being the sole supporter for her family (she has two  disabled children) those people aren’t going to have an e-reader. They won’t have the $22 for the book, either. But if you  order a print copy of Boys Will Be Boys, read it, and donate it to a homeless shelter, a library, or a women’s center, you will not only be helping Ms. Tripp and her children, you may be the unseen angel in the life of some other single mom being prostituted for profit by  a man like Todd Palin.

Here’s where you can purchase Boys Will Be Boys by Shailey Tripp.

I just read Shay's book! It came in the mail today and felt like Christmas. I have not bee able to put it down. She put emails in her book that are not redacted. And guess what I did? I googled some of these emails and was shocked by what I found. Will you be posting about her book? I do not want to give away the details. I was a little bit of a doubter on what to expect from her. This book more than delivered and I agree with Gryphen it when where Joe McGinniss, Frank Orr, and journalists dared not go. All I can say is google west emails, todd palin emails. Some crazy shit.

What comes first to mind concerning the end of 2007 is the prevalent rumors amongst Todd's friends and random people in town that Sarah and Todd were desperately trying to keep Levi and Bristol apart. Todd's slope friends were aware of Todd's dissatisfaction towards the couple (Mr Whitstine gave an interview)

This would explain the many times Bristol was away from Wasilla and why she went to NY with Sarah.

Okay, Troll, you've arrived. Not going to allow a series of 5 - 7 more of this stuff, so move along now.

I think it is great that you edited the book for Shay. That will make a huge difference to how it is received. I will order a copy when it is released by amazon. It is easier since I am not in the U.S. I understand though that she gets a bigger cut if it is ordered through your link. I really hope this gets the attention it deserves. I can hardly wait to read the discussion.

The thing with electronic editions, which I have done with my own work, is that you can set a reasonable price that will give you a nice percentage of the profit. It enables the author to also go global IMMEDIATELY if not within days, if they do not have a big corporate publisher behind them. Please reconsider making an electronic edition available via amazon.com or barnes and noble or your own publisher.

Thanks for posting this, Allison. I'd been waffling the past few days about waiting until March 4th, then I read an article about Amazon's working conditions...

I decided after reading what you wrote to go ahead and order Shailey's book now, for the above reason and for the hope that she gets more of the book sale money than if it went through Amazon.

Whoa. Allison. Why am I a troll for mentioning actual things that happened, rumors or things that are in print? Your attitude will scareoff people who actually know things.

Allison -- Just about says it all:

"But if you order a print copy of Boys Will Be Boys, read it, and donate it to a homeless shelter, a library, or a women’s center, you will not only be helping Ms. Tripp and her children, you may be the unseen angel in the life of some other single mom being prostituted for profit by a man like Todd Palin."

After the past weeks of legislative assault on women we surely know it's time to pull together, men and women, to fight sexism circa 2012.

As eager as I am to read the book, and as much as I share reservations about amazon, their sales rankings are a fairly visible indication of a book's success, so I will wait one more week and order it from them. I am curious, though: I couldn't find the book available for pre-order on amazon, whereas my experience is that books are usually available way far in advance. If the book does not appear on schedule at amazon, I'll buy it from createspace ASAP.

Allison, I love the idea of pay it forward and donate the book and pass it on! This is exactly what I envisioned. It would be amazing too if someone could please mail the Library of Congress a copy of the book and the New York Times book review department a copy. I am hoping that my first check from the sales (in 2 months from now ) I too can buy a copy of the book!!!
Also we are hoping to go crazy at the grocery store.

Shailey, Your book has been assigned a ISBN number, and I believe the Library of Congress policy is that they retain a copy of every published book in the US, even those that are self-published and have an assigned ISBN number. You might ask at your local library.

shaytripp said...

That is sort of correct. I actually got a Library of Congres number assigned to it, this is different from an ISBN. They sent me a letter stating it would be my responsibilty to get them a copy as soon as possible. They do not take electronic copies. It is okay it will get done whenever I get the money. Thank you though!

Allison,

What a generous person you are, giving of your time to help Shailey. Thank you! I've ordered another copy of her book through your website since you said it allows her to get a larger portion of the profits. She certainly deserves it. I ordered a copy the other day after receiving an email from Shailey and will donate one of them to our library after I'm finished with it. I am really looking forward to it after reading this post. I'm supposed to receive it by next Monday but I almost always get things sooner, hope that will be the case here.

I have to laugh at Todd saying things are "tense at home". I can't imagine there were many times when that wasn't the situation considering everything I've read about Sarah and the nastiness she exhibits. He chose his path, he'll have to live with the bitch. It's so true money doesn't buy happiness, just look at the Palins. Their attitude speaks volumes.

Allison said...

Hey there AKRN! The only reason I mention that my contribution to the book was pro bono is to make sure no one reading here thinks I'm trying to profit from them. That would lessen the impact of the message. Actually, I didn't say anything like that in my first draft and when my husband read it he thought it was important to add in there. He opened my eyes. Ao thanks for your kind words, but believe me, working theough this with Shailey paid dividends in many ways. And besides, she had theee editors. I'm an asterisk, she's the real deal.

There is potential for this book to make a difference. It may shake things up. That will be the day we all feel compensated for our work in holding Sarah and company accountable. Payday is coming!

I wish her great success with the book - will do my part to get to spread the word about it and pass it along (hopefully it will benefit many many people) -- sounds like there is a lot of info that could be used for a criminal investigation of the Palins (**fingers crossed**)

Might have to buy two...one to donate and one to keep as it may help make history! I like to collect historical artifacts!

What a well written expression of true altruism, Allison. I share your pay it forward vision and hope that Shay's courage speaks to those who are in any abusive situation. Both my fiance and I have suffered from verbal and physical abuse and one does not escape unscathed. However, one can go forward and Shay has.
After horrendous forest fires, flora and fauna flourish bountifully ... I hope that will happen for Shay for telling the truth in "Boys Will Be Boys".
I also hope that it will become a legal "payback" for the creepy Palins and those who enabled their disturbing behavior.
And a huge amount of $$$$$$$$ for Shailey and children.
Everyone! Tell everyone! Let's roll!

What I'd like to know is HOW MANY women Todd pimped out?

I don't think Shailey was the only one. Why would she be?

Who else is out there with a story to tell?

More Oct, later.

AKRNHSNC, remember, that was almost 5 year ago.

Anonymous said...

I'll probably read the book but does Shailey know or hypothesize how Todd got involved in that business? It sounds like a decade long ordeal that involves multi-generations and people of all stripes.

Heidi Fleiss?

Allison said...

Ivyfree so glad you asked. There are others and she names some. Not all with full names, she knew some only on a first name basis. But yes there are others who worked weekend or business (cough, cough) events with her, they are not all females, and some of them worked in other states.
Shailey traveled out of state on "business" too. This should be HEadline News!

Anonymous said...

Not just that but it was during a time (term) when all her political adversaries were pounding her from all sides, not to mention the press trying to make non-news subject matters relevant to Alaskan politics.

So yes I'd say there was stress. Comes with the job.

Shailey's book is now appearing on amazon.com as available for ordering. I will be ordering it and have offered to send my copy to the Library of Congress after reading it.

AS SOON AS YOU READ IT, LEAVE A REVIEW!

Here's what I said (5 stars, of course)

In "Boys Will Be Boys" Shailey Tripp proves, with copies of documents and lists of names, that her arrest for prostitution and her introduction to that business had roots in the heart of a famous celebrity "family man." One day after standing next to Sarah Palin as she was sworn in as Alaska's first female governor, this "First Dude" was flirtatiously emailing with a young single mom, Shailey Tripp, and saying "You light up my life." What transpired in the weeks, months and years (2006-2010) that followed did not light up her life in return. Guided by a powerful man into the darkness of selling sex, Ms. Tripp has set herself free and is telling her story. The truth will continue to set her free, and she honestly spills the agonizing, humiliating, and depressing details of life as Todd Palin's commodity. Interstate sex trafficking is no joke. The names she names and emails she released prove this woman means business. In the current political climate of taking away women's rights, Ms. Tripp should become an icon for having the courage to stand up and say "I'm not going to let men define who and what I am and what I do." Once you read it, pass it on. This book belongs in libraries, homeless shelters, and women's clinics where it can speak to those who find themselves enslaved by any unhealthy behaviors, limited by losses or disabilities, or injured by the cruelty of others, as the author once was.

You (the editor), Bladecatz (co-author) and Shailey will all split the proceeds?

Yikes. That's not much.

B said...

@Anon11:24. Only Shay & Blade get $$.

What a terrific review, Allison! You really put the book in context.

Just ordered Shailey's book. Thanks Alison! Best to you and to Shailey....

I will try to buy the book. O/T - I try to post this at IM, but he never lets it thru. The Palins are selling shows based on their "negative" impact, e.g. that they are "loved" and "hated." That's why there's a troll trying to stir up commentary about them on all the blogs; the more hits they have, the more they can say that they are popular and folks will put them on the air. I'm not saying this to stop folks from commenting, nor to rain on any blog parade, but people should be aware. The more you argue with trolls, the more they love it as it drives up the hit count and makes it seem like the Palins are relevant.

Allison said...

Anon 1:22. You've provided me another reason To keep troll activity to a minimum. The visitors here have given me their valuable time and in return I want the comments to be of value, too. Bickering and name-calling and repeating the same old stuff under every topic is a huge waste of time for serious readers. In the end, it hurts us because great ideas get lost in the ditrious. If you see an out of control series of snark and troll talk is will be because I can't babysit the blog around the clock. But when I catch up, they get deleted. Many thanks for adding your helpful comment today.

As promised I ordered the book from amazon when I saw Shailey's note that the book is now available there. Current sales ranking is #2816: not a bad number for pre-sales of a book that has had zero formal promotional campaign! Let's hope a sign of good things to come, for the book and for Shailey!

I bought it from both places, just to up her numbers! I promise to pass it along, too! I can not wait to devour it! GO SHAY!!!!!

I got Shailey's book in the mail yesterday. I admit I skipped around in it and started googling aroun don the Internet some things she put in there. I also googled all the email addresses that she didn't redact. The results are astounding. I am really surprised Malia, or any of the other blogs haven't started picking her book apart and talking about it. It seems to me everything she decided to share appears to be true. I am also struck that there is not a huge Homeland Security, FBI sting in place as a result of her book. What scares me more are the things she chose not to say or talk about. Also her client list that she did share could explain the missing phone records. Why is the investigative teams like 20/20 not all over this?
